WISE National and Chapters Celebrate National Mentoring Month 2022

By Amy C. Potter, WISE Within National Committee Chair

Every January, WISE kicks off our program calendar with Speed Mentoring Roundtables — a WISE Within national signature mentoring event — launched in 2014 as our annual recognition and celebration of National Mentoring Month.

As we look back on January 2022, both at the national and chapter levels, an impressive turnout of mentoring-related activities took place throughout the WISE community.

A Month of Mentoring Events and Content

Nationally, we held a successful virtual Speed Mentoring Roundtables event with more than 200 participants from every sector of sports business. Locally, WISE chapters throughout North America hosted in-person or virtual mentoring-related events and activities. Eleven chapters joined the mentoring conversation. Visit these chapter sites or follow their social media to see their programming in action and view the Mentoring Month event recaps.

Collective Effort

What I found most impressive was the collective effort demonstrated by these volunteer-led WISE chapters, whose leadership teams are all navigating the uncertainty caused by varying pandemic protocols while simultaneously balancing their professional and personal lives. For that, I'd like to commend these chapters for their unwavering commitment to delivering on the WISE mission by aligning their content and events with the national message of mentorship at the forefront during National Mentorship Month.

The desire for guidance and in-depth industry insights from experienced leaders is stronger than ever among WISE members. We know firsthand the value of mentorship to a woman's career development and advancement. Whether this occurs in-person or virtually, the WISE Within National Committee is dedicated to supporting members at every stage of their careers.

I look forward to the future of WISE mentoring and amplifying our mission by supporting our chapters in broadening the mentoring message throughout our local markets.
