Quick Start Guide

A WISE Account is automatically created when you join or subscribe. Through your WISE Account, you can manage your account information and email subscriptions. Members can also manage their profile and WISE community activity.

This quick start guide provides the basics on how to access and manage your information. Here are the three tasks you'll want to complete right away:

  1. Complete Your Profile
  2. Review Your Privacy Settings
  3. Review Your Account Information
NOTE: Some of the links described in this guide are only available to members.

Login Instructions

Click on the Sign in link in the upper right-hand corner of the navigation bar above and enter your credentials (username and password). Your username was created by you on the sign-up page; it is NOT your email address. If you did not receive your credentials by email when you signed up, go to our "Forgot Password" form, or email us or call us at 212-726-8282 (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET).

Your WISE Dashboard

Once logged in, you'll find your dashboard on our home page. From here, you'll find the blue buttons to update and manage your information. The same applies if you are logged in to your chapter's site.

1. Update My Account

Manage the following information you provided when you signed-up. This information is confidential and never shared. You may, however, choose to display your contact information in the member directory by changing your privacy settings (see below).

  • Change your password
  • Look up your membership information
  • Update your contact information: email title, company, phone, address
  • Update the following information from your original registration: Contact, Personal, Social, Professional and WISE Engagement

2. Email Preferences

Make selections to receive emails/newsletters from WISE National and chapters. Be sure to add wiseworks.org and your chapter domain (e.g., wisenyc.org) to your safe senders list. Should you experience difficulty receiving our emails, please contact us.

3. Manage My Profile

As a member, you can also manage your WISE profile. Since your privacy is a priority for WISE, many of your profile fields are visible only to you by default. Some of these fields are populated from your original registration and changes must be made from your account (see #1). Your profile also includes the following fields that you can edit and determine their visibility setting:

  • Profile Photo
  • About (Bio)
  • Education
  • Job History
  • Professional Associations
  • Honors and Awards
  • Social Links

You can also access your profile using the pop-up menu by clicking on Profile next to your photo/avatar in the top navigation (upper right-hand corner of the page).

Community Settings

Within your profile, you'll see the tabs where you can access your community settings. This controls how you interact with the broader WISE community and what information you choose to share.

Privacy Settings

Only members have access to the directory and can view your profile. There are four visibility options in the dropdown menu:

  • My Contacts: Only the select members you have added as contacts through the member directory
  • Members Only: All members in the member directory
  • Public: Although nonmembers and the public cannot access the directory, we recommend not selecting this option
  • Only Me: Not visible in the directory to other members or your contacts

Functional Fields

There are two functional settings that impact the ability of other members to connect with you. We recommend that the Send Message and Add as Contact fields be set to Members Only.

Be sure to click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page after you make your updates.

Community Notifications

Separate from the emails and newsletters you receive from WISE National and our chapters (see Email Preferences above), you will also receive messages through the WISE Community. You can manage your community digest settings, such as how often you would like to receive them and for which community. Be sure to add connectedcommunity.org to your safe senders list.

My Inbox

In addition to receiving emails at your email account, you can track the following emails in your WISE inbox:

  • Contact requests and emails
  • Emails from your community moderators
  • Transactional emails such as membership renewal reminders, event-related notifications (e.g., confirmation, cancellation and reminders)
