For a quarter of a century, WISE has successfully helped women in the business of sports navigate and advance their careers by providing networking, mentoring and development opportunities. These tools have not only helped them be their best professional selves, but have allowed them to support a growing network of peers. Over the years, WISE members have shared how WISE has worked for them.

“My 20-year-old daughter, Grace, a strategic communications major, texted me to see if I knew a Robin Carr. Turns out Robin was quoted in one of Grace’s textbooks talking about the importance of networking. Robin cited her WISE membership as a great example of how she connected with women in the sports business. Robin and I had crossed paths during our mutual Nike days, so I reached out to her to ask if she’d chat with Grace. Grace and Robin had a terrific conversation, and now Robin is helping Grace look into internships. WISE works — the next generation!”

“WISE has positively influenced my career in multiple ways, but perhaps most importantly, is the boost in confidence I have received through my involvement on a committee. I am naturally shy and reserved, so networking and other professional activities are often intimidating; however, I have become much more comfortable in these situations because of the relationships I have formed while working on my committee and volunteering at events. Once you know a few friendly faces, it makes a world of difference! If I could give one word of advice to women just getting started in WISE or in the sports industry, it would be volunteer. Your interactions will be much more organic, and it will help to relieve any anxiety that comes from traditional networking opportunities.”
