At its core, sales is about relationships. And women are good at it. A 2013 Gender Study of Sales by business solutions provider Xactly found women to be higher performers, with 70 percent reaching their sales targets compared with 67 percent of men. In an analysis of 30,000-plus sales calls by Gong.io, which uses AI technology to measure the effectiveness of these conversations, women closed more deals, with a win-rate 11 percent higher than their male counterparts. Yet according to the research and advisory company Gartner, women remain underrepresented in sales, reaching leadership positions less frequently.
