Our Chapter

Chapter Spotlight: WISE Greater Raleigh

Chapter President's Corner: Marianne Schroer

What drives WISE Greater Raleigh?
Our chapter is driven by our amazing members — they are our "why." We strive to create a community women want to be a part of, that they get something out of and give back to.

What impact has WISE Greater Raleigh had on the local community?
We have had so many success stories of women earning promotions after being coached by their WISE Within mentor, finding new jobs after making new connections at our events, putting new skills in place after learning from our panels, or just being more ready to take on the day after being empowered by our badass network!

What's next for WISE Greater Raleigh?
Our focus is on engaging our members. With all the changes in the business of sports (and society overall) recently, we want to ensure we're giving our members what they need to be at their best. Most importantly, we want to create a community in which they can feel empowered and be their authentic selves.

What drives WISE Greater Raleigh?
Our goal is to become a part of our community and to inspire and empower women to join our organization in making a positive impact on each other's lives and the community in which we live and work.

What inspired you to launch and lead the chapter?
I was inspired by the chance to give back. I’m in a place in my career where serving a great organization like WISE is exactly what I want to be doing. I have years of experience, and in that time, many women and men have guided me and provided great resources to help me grow my career. Leading WISE Greater Raleigh has given me an ability to work with a great group of women that I knew would inspire me just as much as I could serve them. I also thought it was a special opportunity to launch a chapter and set the course for what WISE could be in our market. I’m committed to creating an impactful chapter so when the time comes to pass the leadership role on to someone else, we will have created an amazing foundation. Having the chance to create a legacy outside of my day-to-day work and my family life has been really exciting.

What's next for WISE Greater Raleigh?
Coming out of our first year, I want to continue to grow an engaged, connected membership base. We did a great job of building initial membership, and now we are focused on getting members more involved. We want our members participating, being on committees and actively sharing how we can best serve them to create a vibrant chapter. WISE Greater Raleigh is striving to provide an environment in which our members are looking forward to seeing each other every month and giving back to their fellow members.

We want to continue creating great offerings for members through events, our mentorship program and other opportunities. Growing WISE Within in Year 2 is a key priority. Finally, given the high concentration of strong academic institutions in the area, we want to tap into this and grow our base of student members. We see this as a unique opportunity to work with the area’s emerging talent and provide them the mentorship and benefits of WISE as they are just entering their careers.
