Inspiration comes from many avenues. In our WISE Bookshelf feature, members share some of the titles that have encouraged them to think outside of the box, try a new approach or dig down deep for the confidence they needed to make that big decision, or simply allowed them a reprieve from the daily grind. Happy reading!

You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life

Author: Jen Sincero

Genre: Non-fiction

Comments

Jen Sincero's book is an easy step-by-step read filled with humor and no-nonsense advice on how to rid yourself of your drama and BS.

She begins by going over "How You Got This Way." (Hint: It's all about the law of attraction.) Next up is how to use affirmations to embrace your inner badass. She continues with the topics of decision-making, getting clear, tapping into the mother Iode and manifesting, and she offers some secrets on how to achieve pure happiness: give, be grateful and forgive.

Finally, Sincero provides exercises on "How to Get over Your BS." In this part of the book, she reminds us that nobody succeeds without failure - and, sometimes, a lot of it - using a couple of these "failures" as examples: Michael Jordan, Steven Spielberg and Thomas Edison. "The only failure is quitting. Everything else is just gathering information," she writes.

My biggest takeway a a recovering perfectionist - done is better than perfect! The main theme - LOVE YOURSELF! There is only one you, and you are special.
