The Boys in the Boat is the story of the 1936 U.S. men's rowing team and their quest for gold at the Berlin Olympics. The story offers a unique viewport into life during the great depression, the preparation and skills necessary to be successful at rowing, and the events in Berlin leading up the 1936 Olympic games. I personally enjoyed the way the author weaves all of these elements together into one interesting and thorough story.
