I've always planned on pursuing sports PR as my career, and still really want to continue this path. I've had numerous internships in sport PR, but about a year ago took a position in sports sales. I figured it was at least half of what I wanted to do. Now, I am finding it difficult to get back into PR and find positions that are available, and will hire me since I have been doing sales for a year. What are your recommendations on getting back into the PR side of things?

Similarly, work through any contacts you have externally and reach out to people who work in PR to ask them the same question. Most people are happy to talk about what they do and what they did to succeed, and to provide guidance to people starting out in their careers. If you can link your current work in sales to a role in PR, then they will keep you in mind for any future roles they may have or roles they hear of. Make sure you don't ask them for a job - make it more of a conversation about what it takes to succeed; the conversation will go much easier if you do. Maintain an up-to-date Linkedin profile and keep in contact with whomever you speak so you remain current for them.
