On Dec. 8, nearly 100 WISE members Zoomed in to celebrate the holidays, as well as the organization’s recent brand and website relaunches, during a happy hour presented by Miller Lite. WISE national board chair and president Kathleen Francis opened the event by acknowledging the challenges of 2020, expressing gratitude for the WISE community and teasing new programming.
“You should know that there’s more to come,” said Francis, sporting a Miller Lite “ugly sweater.” “There’ll be more leadership development programs coming down the pike. ... We’re expanding the resources that we can bring to you, so all really, really exciting.”
In a prerecorded video, master cicerone Jason Pratt, of Molson Coors, gave a mixology demo, teaching attendees how to make a Blue Moon Tropic Eclipse and Peroni Spritz (video and recipes below), before the party was split up into breakout rooms for more intimate mingling.
The discussions were moderated by WISE chapter presidents, some donning team-themed ugly sweaters courtesy of Fanatics, and provided attendees a unique opportunity to get to know members outside their chapters. Ice breakers focused on what members were grateful for in 2020 and looking forward to in 2021. The festivities wound down with the selection of a winner of the evening’s ugly sweater contest, chosen randomly from attendees who entered.
“It was a nice unexpected surprise!” said winner Tiffany Hollins of the WISE Las Vegas chapter, who received Miller Lite holiday knitwear as a prize.
