WISE Women of the Year

More than 30 Years of Honoring Women Leaders to Inspire Our Industry.

When we actively showcase examples of female leadership, more women can see themselves succeeding in a male-dominated business. And when our entire industry shows up to celebrate this leadership, the message of equality of opportunity gets even more powerful.

Long before the phrase "If you can't see it, you can't be it" became famous, WISE has been honoring women leaders for the specific purpose of inspiring other women.

Since 1993, the WISE Women of the Year Award has recognized extraordinary women who have broken barriers, acted as a voice for other women, and made a significant impact on the business of sports.

Each spring, we honor the WISE Women of Year at an inspirational luncheon that brings together the entire sports business community to celebrate women leaders and advocate for greater support and opportunities for all women.

Selection Criteria
Honorees are selected by the WISE National Board based upon nominations by WISE members across North America and the following criteria:

• Proven Leadership — Serves as a role model, mentor and/or sponsor for other women.
• Executive Impact — Holds a senior leadership role that significantly influences the business of sports.
• Extensive Experience — At least seven years in a leadership position within the sports industry and a minimum of 25 years of professional experience overall.
• Advocacy for Women — Actively supports and advances women in the industry.
• Barrier Breaker — Demonstrates a history of creating opportunities and removing obstacles for other women.
• Professional Excellence — Exhibits integrity, professionalism and respect for others.

Eligible Executives
Leaders may come from across the sports ecosystem, including but not limited to: media, data/technology, finance, sponsorship, venue operations, consulting, or related sectors—all contributing to the business of sport at the highest levels, both within and beyond leagues.
