Chapter President's Corner: Janis Burke

What inspired you to lead WISE Houston?
To provide a network of females within the local industry that could help ignite and motivate women of all ages, and at whatever point in their career they find themselves, to reach their fullest potential.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of being chapter president?
I'm new in the president role, but was a founding board member and founding sponsor of the chapter. With that said, the most rewarding aspect of being part of the leadership team since the inception has been to watch the expansion of friendships or influence, as well as the tremendous confidence boost and individual growth I've witnessed amidst the members.

What impact has WISE Houston had on the local community?
We've had a significant impact with our focus on mentoring initiatives, special speakers that have been brought in to teach members on various subject matters, and the networking or friendship building that we've provided for several hundred ladies in Houston. We've also been able support Dress For Success, the Houston Food Bank and various charitable youth initiatives through our philanthropic efforts.

What drives WISE Houston?
Strong leaders and committee volunteers that are passionate ambassadors

List three adjectives that best describe WISE Houston.
Engaged. Innovative. Pivotal.
