With gratitude to all who applied, we are delighted to share that Tanya Phillipps, Events, Sponsorship & Ambassador Relations from Right to Play Canada will be joining our WISE Toronto board this January as Inclusion & Diversity Committee Lead.
An existing WISE Toronto member and all-around powerhouse, Tanya is deeply passionate about creating community and has been advocating youth empowerment since 1998. With more than 20 years of national and global experience in marketing, communications, and philanthropy, Tanya has worked extensively in the sports and entertainment industry, initially with MLSE’s Toronto Raptors Foundation, and then Canada Basketball (managing marcom for three FIBA World Championships). Tanya also worked for an award-winning event hospitality company, managing premier accounts such as World Pride, Microsoft, NBA All-Star, and TIFF.
Tanya is a co-founder of The Canadian Black Standard, dedicated to addressing systemic barriers in employment and inclusion for Black Canadian women in marketing. She serves on two other community boards, and recently joined the Black North Initiative’s Sports & Events Committee. In 2020, Tanya spearheaded Canada’s DEI & Anti-Racism committee at Right To Play, a global charitable organization where she oversees Events, Sponsorship & Ambassador Relations in Canada. She believes in the power of building strong collaborative relationships to create an equitable society for the next generation to thrive.
With Tanya, our perspectives widen, voices strengthen, and critically, we ensure that all WISE Toronto touchpoints reinforce our values around inclusion, equity, and diversity. Our mission stays the same, to create and support programs that enhance the growth of women in the business of sports and events.
