From Nov. 3–8, 2019, 37 influential female sports business executives attended the annual WISE Executive Leadership Institute (WELI). In partnership with Tuck Executive Education, the world-renowned business school at Dartmouth, the five-day intensive study program is the gold standard in leadership development training in the business of sports.
“In our sixth year, WELI hosted a record number of passionate female executives in our industry,” said Kathleen Francis, WISE national board chair and president. “This immersive study program gives attendees the leadership tools to help them continue to make positive contributions and deep professional connections to support them on their journey.” Designed to help female executives become more effective leaders as they navigate their respective business environments, WELI’s customized curriculum addresses the business and personal skills required for success, as well as specific challenges women face in the industry.
“Approaching the week at WELI, I was prepared to meet new people in the industry, learn a few things, and take home some items that could enhance or improve my career as a leader in the sports industry. What I really came away with were invaluable lessons, amazing personal insights and reflections, and what are sure to be lifelong friendships that undoubtedly have reshaped me not only as a leader and a woman, but as a human being,” said Danielle Snyder, senior vice president, guest services and security at AEG/Staples Center.
Since the program’s launch in 2014, leading companies across the sports industry have invested in the professional development of their female executives. The 2019 WISE Executive Leadership Institute attendees represented the following organizations:

“The WELI program has the power to truly transform you as a leader, both in how you lead [and] how you approach your seat at the table,” said Laura Jordan, vice president, HR operations at the National Football League. “As a female leader, there are many demands on my time and often I find myself focusing on others' needs. Spending a week at WELI ensures you actually take time to focus and invest in yourself and your career."
