Inspiration comes from many avenues. In our WISE Bookshelf feature, members share some of the titles that have encouraged them to think outside of the box, try a new approach, dig down deep for the confidence they needed to make that big decision or simply allowed them a reprieve from the daily grind. Happy reading!

Why Soccer Matters

Author: Pelé and Brian Winter
Genre: Sports

This book was a perfect complement to my obsession with the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The memoir is fun, enlightening and offers a viewpoint from Pele that is thoughtful and reflective of how the beautiful game has been the catalyst for his growth on and off the field. As a self-proclaimed “soccer head,” it was fun to read while watching the sights and sounds of the tournament from his home country of Brazil.
